Dream Cafe Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Why can't I get excited about this place? They're not doing anything overtly wrong. They survived the latest in a series of downtown reconstruction projects that made me feel like I needed a a hardhat to get there, but still, the place, for me, has no soul. It's not a bad restaurant, as a matter of fact it's probably one of the better choices for a mildly upscale breakfast or lunch on Main Street, but I feel like I've taken a Qualude when I'm in there, and I'm pretty sure I haven't. Yes, it's that boring. Maybe that's why they call it the Dream Cafe. If my 88 year old mother ever gets back here, I'm taking her here, and she will love it.

Great atmosphere and interior design especially for GJ.. that said, the food is hit-or-miss. I will continue to check it out on occasion, hoping they will surprise me!

service was odd. But the food was bomb.com

Great breakfast! We were traveling from San Francisco to Denver and wanted a good breakfast on our last day of driving. Thanks to all the reviews, we chose the Dream Cafe! I had the savory crepes and my BF had the cinnamon roll French toast - both were excellent! Two discomforts: the food was not as hot as I'd have liked, and the coffee was not very good. We stopped at Starbucks on the way out of town . . . Oh, and the decor was not very impressive either, but the food was so tasty we didn't care!

they should have spent less on their decor and more on their food. wasn't expecting the type of cafe that serves log cabin syrup and splenda. definitely not the organic, healthy food i was expecting, more like an slightly more expensive denny's with funky decor.

Had the California Dream Bene which was filling n delicious...so is the huge blueberry pancake which was light n fluffy. The corn beef brisket hash was also good. The only thing I didn't like was I wish the hash browns were crispier but the crispy bacon made up for it :-) also there may be a wait for seating as this place is popular.

This was my first visit to Dream Cafe. I'd like to give 3.5 stars but decided I'd round-up to 4 in hopes my next visit will be a bit better. I'll definitely come back! The French toast was awesome but my "Benedict-addicted" wife said the Cali Dreamin' Bene was mediocre and over cooked a bit. Both of us commented on the hash browns having a different texture. I like hash browns to be more traditional but I'm sure many people love Dream's style! The service was a bit slow but we came-in around the tail-end of service (1:00). I'll be trying their French Dip next time!

I always order the Eggs Benedict. I know I should try something else, but they are just that good. Service is always great and my coffee cup is always full. They also have a tasty bloody mary.

Yummy. Really good breakfast spot. Tofu scramble on the menu, yay! Great coffee with delicious, thick and smooth vanilla soy milk, double yay. My mother really enjoyed the pear pancakes. Awesome atmosphere and decent service. I loved the mod remodel! Vegan tip: you have to order the tofu scramble without dairy for it to be vegan.

Go really hungry because the food is plentiful and terrific. cinnamon roll french toast was different and great. Decor and service matched the good food.

E and I were in good ol' GJ and a tad bit scared about eating out. We certainly didn't expect to find the next culinary marvel while staying here, but we desperately needed a place to eat. You see, Holiday Inn up and went fancy on us, and gone was the free continental breakfast. So we turned to trusty Yelp. The Dream Cafe came as one of the better-rated places in town, so we decided to try it. We walked in, saw the decorating, the orange mugs, the menu, and looked at one another with the same thought. Um, can you say SNOOZE WANNABE? I'm not hating on them for that...Snooze is a pretty awesome place to want to be like, but it also sets a beyond-incredibly-high standard. And just having orange mugs and some interesting pancake choices will not get you up to par!!! The bourbon pear pancakes that E had were not awful. But they were also not Snooze pancakes. Not wanting to commit sacrilege, I didn't even THINK about ordering something of the flapjack persuasion. I went for an asparagus, jack cheese, and red pepper egg scramble and enjoyed it simply because it was what i would have made myself had I been home. E got an eggs benedict of some sort that involved red peppers, avocado, and some very good hollandaise sauce. The waitress was pleasant but the background music was a bit elevator-ish. Maybe it is at Snooze too, but it's always so bustling and noisy and I can't tell. Overall, a very mixed-feelings meal. I liked it, but I've had much better. However, in GJ that might not be the case... P.S. When DID Holiday Inns get so fancy? And why????

The Dream Hash was tasty, better still was the cinnamon roll french toast with cinnamon butter, and in case that is not enough there is a mimosa bar... Really hard to not to be extremely happy about this place.

    (5)
  • Steve D.

Wow. This place has friendly service, modern atmosphere and tasty reasonably priced breakfast food. Did I mention a rockin' mimosa menu AND a bloody mary menu (we had one of each...yum)? I had a sausage, jalapeno and chive omelette with their super crispy hash browns and toast and my GF had the huevos rancheros (salsa verde!) and an order of their garlicky delicious french fries. Both were amazing. I don't live in the area, or I'd probably go broke eating there. Awesome!

What an interesting little place. The first thing that struck me when I walked in: This place looks like it was designed and inspired by Ikea. From the furniture to the lamps to the lighting, the restaurant seems an homage to the Swedish DIY furniture company. Different, for sure, but not altogether a bad thing. Onward. We were there for lunch, at around 1 pm. The place was almost full, and it probably took half an hour to get our food. The menu looked excellent: breakfast all day, some good looking lunch entree selections and specials. I chose a crabcake hoagie with garlic fries. It was good--not amazing, but a-okay. One of my fellow diners ordered a tofu scramble from the breakfast menu, the other a salad. Both said the food was good, if a little on the pricey side. I would return, however. There aren't a lot of fabulous dining options in Grand Junction, and the Dream Cafe is certainly serviceable.

The hiccups with the wait staff seemed to have been resolved since the last time I ate here. The hostess and server were cordial and professional, and everything was prompt. The coffee was still good despite the recalcitrance of the staff to dole out more than two tablespoons of half & half at a time. Come on ladies: I know you are concerned about my health and all, but if you gave out more than a meager little thimble of cream I wouldn't have to ask for more five times. The biscuits & gravy were awful: flour and milk with no other ingredients does not equal "gravy". Yuck! As mentioned by a previous reviewer, GJ really is a wasteland when it comes to breakfast places. Although the Dream Cafe is not excellent, it is far better than many of the greasy spoon alternatives (and far cleaner). I just wish that their menu was a bit more flavorful.

As good as it gets, in GJ! One of my favorite spots in GJ for breakfast or lunch! The only drawback is that they are only open until 2 pm; I'd go a lot more often if they were open later and had dinner service. The "dream muffin" is my favorite thing to order for breakfast; w/ a fruit plate and hash browns ("extra crispy")... For lunch: I *love, love, love* the "dream club" sandwich w/ french fries! It is literally one of the most delicious sandwiches I've ever eaten! The cranberry mayo is exceptional...I've tried to recreate at home, but it's never as good. If I could only have one thing for lunch for the rest of my life; it would be the dream club! :D

We stopped here before our flight out of Grand Junction airport. The service was fast and the food was awesome. i had the Dream Hash which was delicious, and a friend had the cinamon roll french toast with bacon. good stuff.

This is a great place for breakfast or lunch! Their eggs benedict are really good and fresh. My hubby likes their Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes, but I think they're too sweet for the morning. They also make an amazing Prime Rib French Dip for lunch.

We've eaten here several times and always had a good experience. We come mainly for lunch and it's pretty good although not truly outstanding; the cheeseburger and fries (love the string fries!!) are decent. The breakfasts are good too; I've had the buttermilk pancakes, the breakfast burrito and the biscuits and gravy; all were also quite decent although the gravy could've been a bit more flavorful. The serving size is generous but not too much. Service is always good although we do tend to come just a little before or a little after lunch rush. They are great with our three year old son. Great place to eat in downtown Grand Junction.

Grand Junction is what I call a desert when it comes to healthy, creative, and scrumptious food. When hubby and I moved to the area from Denver, CO in 1999, we went into food culture shock and cooked our food at home most of the time. It's scary when I look online and find 4 and 5 stars given to some of the fast food restaurants and boring chains in this area. We really like our eggs with greens of some healthy type, like spinach or broccoli and no restaurant here has this. Another problem is that I must eat gluten-free and sugar-free and, sadly, most places here don't know what that means. But I do have to give credit where it's due and that would be the breakfast at the Dream Cafe. This used to be the Crystal Cafe which, imo, was mediocre at best. The Dream Cafe has moved it up a few notches since they took over. I was happy to see that they offered gluten-free pancakes upon request even though most of their pancake offerings were more like dessert than what I would call a meal. I'm not a pancake eater but will take them when there is no bread available for me. I had a delicious 3-egg omelet with arugula, a plain, gluten-free, buttermilk pancake on the side with cinnamon butter, and great coffee. I was happy! Hubby had a pineapple, cinnamon pancake with creme anglaise. I shared my huge omelet with him and gave him my hash browns because he has a big appetite and doesn't ever gain weight. Lucky guy! We are thrilled to find what we would call a decent restaurant that serves tasty breakfasts, offers greens with their eggs, and at least some gluten-free items in Grand Junction.

Open for Breakfast and Lunch but wish they were open for dinner. Very cool place to meet a friend for food. Wonderful selections with breakfast offered all day. The Quiche is usually worht a try. Great Mimosa's to with a nice patio when weahter permits.

I like this place, definitely the best breakfast in Grand Junction. I have to go to Grand Junction a lot for family, and I always suck it up on the food. But now that Dream Cafe is open, there is finally a non-greasy-spoon alternative. Good menu, good service, reasonable prices, something on the menu for everyone. Just hope this place stays open!

Another great meal at Dream Cafe. We've eaten here numerous times and have never had a bad meal. The servers are friendly, offer great advice regarding food choices, drink refills are quick without asking and best of all the food is great! Servings are huge! This is a an excellent place for breakfast or lunch.

So, this is one of, if not, the only five star rating I have ever given. This incredibly well put together breakfast and lunch joint is truly a dream. The designer (they clearly hired one) thought of every little detail to bring in lots of light, fun colors, tasteful seating and much, much more. The atmosphere is nothing short of perfect for a breakfast/lunch spot. The food was RIDICULOUSLY GREAT! Starting with the best cinnamon roll we have ever eaten (sorry Aunt Joy), a little caramel, little cinnamon, little sugar, fresh whipped cinnamon butter and baked to perfection. Truly amazing. The biscuits and pork gravy were also a tie with my grand mothers which were a work of art and the best I've ever had. My wife had the Cinnamon Roll French Toast and some kind of special bacon that was insanely delicious. Kids had eggs and muffins, also yummy. Chased my meal down with a dirty bloody mary and an endless glass of water which hit the whistle nicely. The service was super friendly, timely and thoughtful. The Dream Cafe also offered outside dinning on a nice patio fronting the restaurant in the heart of downtown GJ. If your passing by GJ and want a scrumptious breakfast don't hesitate to drive the few minutes off of the interstate, you will be glad you did. If your a pilot in the Colorado/Utah area, this IS the place for that beautiful morning breakfast flight and then back home before 11:00 am. For a truly terrific breakfast I give the Dream Cafe and their awesome staff my highest recommendation possible!

The dream cafe did everything right. Food, service, the feel of the place, it was all great. One of the best omelets and coffee's I've had while traveling on the road. And I got the feeling that it also was one of the only "hip" places in town. So weather you live in town, or are just passing through (like I was) dream cafe should be at the top if your list for a bite to eat.

A wonderful selection of breakfast and lunch options. Many healthy and many just sweet and great. Huge breakfast portions. I had the corned beef hash platter for breakfast which was very good. Had fish tacos for lunch which was even better. I definitely would recommend this place. It was hard to find really great food in Grand Junction.

  • Melonie H.

We went there because of ther commercial indicated they served vietnamese sandwiches. We make those at home a lot and wanted to see what other people did. They had just discontinued the sandwhich so we ordered the fish tacos and philly steak sandwich. the phiilly sandwich was good. Not the best i've ever had but certainly not the worst. The herb and garlic fries were a nice touch. The fish tacos were good but needed more generous topping of pico de gallo. And the black beans were blah. we asked for a booster seat and between the hostess and server, it got forgotten about. We sat outside on a beautiful day and enjoyed it. And being it was a Saturday, it wasn't terribly busy. with saying that, I wished my drink got refilled a little quicker, but the server was very nice and did try hard to get what we requested. The kids had grilled cheese with fresh fruit. the fruit was great and they inhaled it.

This little place is downtown and pretty fun. The atmosphere is a kind of new age style diner. I've had several breakfasts there and my favorite is the Benedict. I especially like the "Dream Potatoes". But, I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu and the service is friendly and fast. They have patio seating street-side if you are into having some sunshine. Enjoy Cheue`

This is my first review I use yelp all the time but never reviewed. We were traveling and stayed in Grand Junction this place was awesome!!! Best breakfast we have had in a very long time! My honey had the Dream Hash he loved it, I had the biscuit and gravy delicious!!! The homemade strawberry jam was bomb!!! Zack was our server and he was GREAT! Must come!!!

  • Jessika K.

Nice little cafe on Main Street with a modern look. Staff was friendly and the food was delicious. I ordered the AM burrito, which had a green chili sauce that was fantastic! My husband had the hash and it was flavorful and colorful! The toast came with homemade strawberry jam. There were many different mimosas and Bloody Mary options. Good took a bit of time for our food to come out, but was worth the wait.

Delicious breakfast. Really fast service. Get the California Dreamin' Bene and the Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes.

Walking in and seeing the decor of the joint, with it's combination of traditional coffee shop vibes mixed with the hip new age diner feel made me immediately happy that I had listened to my fellow Yelper's. After opening the menue and spotting the amount of dishes with avocado, and seeing the creative list of breakfast "adult" beverages I was sure that I had found my Grand Junction breakfast paradise... However, after I got my food things took a turn.. I wouldn't say a turn "for the worse" necessarily, maybe a turn "for the less awesome". I guess my problem with this place isn't that they didn't deliver a good tasting breakfast, but the fact that I expected a novel shout-my-excitement-to-strangers breakfast experience, and the dishes just didn't do it for me. With that being said I should point out that I always rate joints on what they are trying to be. If I got this plate of food at a truck stop, I would give them 5 1/2 stars, but to get it at a joint that is trying to do the gastro-creative, hip, and edgy breakfast thing? It just didn't blow my hair back. Replacing a benedict's meat with avocado- makes me love you. Replacing a benedict's meat with a thumb nail's worth of avocado- makes me cry. Not to mention the depressingly lifeless English muffin it was topped on.

  • Marianne G.

I had the chicken avocado salad with yucca. Yum! My husband and I have dined at The Dream Cafe several times. One of my favorite things are the deep fried yucca chips. It has been very busy when we go and the service has always been friendly, and reasonably fast. When we are downtown around lunch time, the Dream Cafe is our first choice.

I must say that the cinnamon roll was huge. I was disappointedin the taste and texture,it wasnt soft and it tasted and looked more like maple surup was poured over it :( .

I have dined for breakfast at Dream Cafe on a number of occasions while visiting Grand Junction. My favorite meal was the Eggs Benedict with roasted red peppers, avocado and asparagus - and of course a mimosa! Heaven! Bring your identification - no matter your age! My 50+-year-old aunt who just got over breast cancer with almost no hair was ID'ed. Luckily, my cousin was able to run back to the hotel to grab it for her.

Dream used to be one of my favorite restaurants..... Really gone down hill. Maybe their lunch is still good, but the breakfast is truly unremarkable.

  • Connie B.

Food worth coming back for. Decor amazing. Atmosphere was indifferent. I had the Cinnamon Roll French Toast breakfast. The cinnamon roll was toasted and scrumptious. The potatoes reminded my husband of Swiss rustee. I got exactly what I ordered the way I ordered it and it was delicious. The peach mimosa was great. My husband ordered the AM burrito and although it was good would order my choice the next time. We had a couple of mothers sitting in the booth next to us with children u behaved and the mothers over talked themselves causing the conversation to be overly loud and disturbing.

This restaurant was ok. The service was good. My kids love Wiki Sticks and when we asked for extra they were very accommodating. Overall this was a great place for kids! Good pancakes and fun stuff!unfortunately my review needs to be of the food, not the Wiki Sticks. My husband and I shared both the Breakfast flatbread and CA dreaming Benedict. The flatbread sounded really good but was bland and kind of chewy. The Benedict wasn't great. The English muffin wasn't toasted enough which made it really soggy. The proportion of veggies to hollandaise sauce was off; too much sauce. Overall, I think they have great ideas and are onto something but they need to develop the details more.

  • Amanda E.

Called and was told they were open. I told them I was about two hours out. They said yes we will still be open. Drove 30 minutes out of my way to get there. They were closed. I'll never waste my time on this place again.

  • Richard B.

They had gluten free options which was a primary reason for coming here. The atmosphere was like an old diner but with an all update interior. My wife enjoyed her gluten free breakfast and I got the eggs benedict with hashbrowns. I was surprised to see that the hashbrowns were almost identical to Snooze's without as much seasoning. My benedict was amazing. The hollandaise sauce had a great consistency and was well balanced with cheddar. The ham had been grilled on the flat top and was tender and a bit salty. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked with runny yolks. To my surprise, I enjoyed this breakfast better than Snooze's which is my favorite! The waitress was friendly and attentive. This place may not look like much from the outside and doesn't have the quirky atmosphere of another place but is kicking out quality food. Delicious.

  • Rachael H.

One of the best breakfasts in town for sure. I've been here twice now. I knew this was kind of the "hip" breakfast place here - as compared to the other breakfast joints around - so I kind of expected a stuffy, overpriced menu. I was totally wrong. The menu is varied and fresh but there are some well-executed stand-bys. (In particular, their biscuits and gravy is amazing!) The "dream potatoes" are kind of dense-packed seasoned hashbrowns, and are great. I've tried the peach and raspberry mimosas, a nice twist. The only thing that wasn't better than expected was the hot cocoa I got. It was good, but just kind of in the standard hot cocoa way. I appreciated it on a snowy day nonetheless. Both times service has been a tiny bit slow, but that's more than forgivable considering how busy the place was. Def stop by.

Cinnamon roll French toast...AMAZING. Pretty darn good coffee too. Skipped the free hotel breakfast for this and it was completely worth it.

Great food and good atmosphere. The prices are more than reasonable for the quality of the food. This is not a dine and dash type of place. They take their time in making their dishes and it shows!

I have NEVER had such horrible service at a restaurant ever. Strongly recommend owner contact me. Sad part was not only our waitress was terrible (ignored us for 30 min, didn't speak when thanked, no refills, etc BUT the rest of the staff today ACTIVELY avoided eye contact, etc. yet they had time to gossip together while bussing tables. Very strange. Only reason this place earned any stars was because the food was outstanding and be the person I was w said service is generally decent.

This is like grand junction's version of Snooze! Super cute. it was delightful to see a great restaurant with friendly service so far from home. They had a delightful interior that autmatically woke me up in the morning. I had their eggs benedict, and it was nicely cooked with fresh veggies. My boyfriend had their burrito that was a belly filler. Great pirce, clean place, friendly staff, and good food to end my trip in grand junction.

Amazing pancakes, flatbread breakfast plate. Only complaint is no lattes, straight cup o Joe but it's good.

Really nice atmosphere. Not the typical greasy spoon (which I like too) and that includes the food. Food was clean and tasty. I would have given it six stars if I was still drinking! Good hangover food and interesting mimosas and Bloodies. Good service too.

I'm a yankee. Northerner born and raised. But if there's one thing the South does right, it's biscuits and gravy. I firmly believed that I had to be on the muggy side of the Mason Dixon line if I wanted grade A biscuits smothered in delicious gravy. Turns out I was wrong. Dream Cafe served up the best biscuits and gravy I've ever experienced. Two delicious biscuits topped with a sausage patty, an egg, sausage gravy, and melted shredded cheddar cheese. Dream Cafe is a definite must visit breakfast stop in GJ.

In my ongoing search for the best breakfast/brunch place in every city ...Dream Cafe is mystical get away in the Junction. It's the place for Brunch'n in the Junct'n! I didn't realize Bloody Mary's were a thing in GJ until I saw the awesome Bloody Mary menu. Give the Lime Mary a try and enjoy. As far as bfast options go the pineapple upside pancakes were on par with the best i have had at any joint in the US.....fresh, buttery and sweet but not too sweet. The biscuits and sausage gravy were also tasty and filling!

Best breakfast/brunch spot in all of Colorado. Always friendly staff, great atmosphere, bloody marys, mimosas, amazing biscuits and gravy, pineapple upside down pancakes, huevos rancheros... the list goes on and on. Every time we come back to Grand Junction we make it a point to eat here, it's an absolute must. We can't wait for the next time!

  • Jerome S.

I'd give it two and a half stars if I could. Been eating here regularly for several years and I keep having mixed experiences when I go there. Today's French dip, while tasty as always, was half of a sandwich cut in half again, and a giant side salad to take up all the room on the plate. I didn't order a side salad, I ordered a French dip and at $11.50, I want a WHOLE sandwich like all the other times I've ordered the French dip. Also, the drinks are the weakest I've ever had anywhere in Colorado, and possibly the rest of the country. I'm not a raging alcoholic but I do like my cocktails to have legs underneath them. I always have to order an extra shot for the Bloody Mary, or tell them to add less mixer, etc., to no avail. Also, every time I go here, there's a weirdo vibe emanating from within that I can't quite put my finger on. The staff dashes around smiling their perfunctory smiles, but it seems like underneath the veneer, they're holding something back, like beaten down housewives from the 1950's. The owner/manager (?) roams around in taught silence like he's about to crack someone's knuckles with a stick should they commit the slightest infraction. Finally, half of the dishes I've eaten, whether it be breakfast or lunch, have been very bland, and the other half mostly flavorful. Like I mentioned, inconsistent flavor and weak drinks. I'm willing to give them one more shot, though, and only one more.

I am a very regular, happy customer of this establishment. For years breakfast and champagne have been two of my favorite things and Dream Cafe nails it. The biscuits and gravy in particular is outstanding and always consistently perfect. This is always the first restaurant I think about for breakfast in Grand Junction.

Great breakfast spot! Friendly service, good coffee, amazing homemade cinnamon rolls. Ordered 3 egg scramble and California dreaming eggs Benedict - both were delicious! Fresh jalapeños in the scramble made it even better. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area.

Chorizo and scallion egg white omelet with cheddar was outstanding. Very nice waitress suggested a pancake instead of toast and I was not disappointed. Service was excellent and fellow yelpers steered me in the right direction yet again. Forget the really bad breakfast at the Springhill Suites, walk one block and enjoy a fantastic breakfast for about 10 bucks.

Some good savory crepes are hard to find in GJ but they have em here. Good fruit plates and great breakfast burritos. For lunch they have a delicious french dip. I think they put some thyme in their french fries which makes em tastier.

  • Tres D.

I enjoyed the modern atmosphere. They serve a good selection of BloodyMarys & Mimosas. I got a spicy Mary & it was very spicy & quite good. Everyone in my group enjoyed the food so I will vouch for the omlets, burrito, pancakes, hashbrowns, bacon, & coffee. There were no leftovers.

  • Kim K.

Yelpers totally steered me in the right direction on this one! I bookmarked this before I even left Ohio. Upon entering, I was in heaven. I really appreciated & enjoyed the interiors, layout & variety of seating options. Kudos to the design team. One of the reviews mentioned that this place looked like an IKEA- are you kidding me? Not even close! The textiles were nice & I loved the lighting and the finishes. Not a DIY kinda place! First of all, I loved the orange Fiesta mugs- nice touch! . I ordered tea for one, which was a nice selection. They served Shangri La tea, but opted for the Royal Cup instead. I had California Dreamin' Bene and it was so much more than I expected. Roasted red peppers & asparagus? I was sold! Each bite oozed deliciousness! The eggs were just right! Everything was just right! I even returned the next morning & ordered it again! My service both days were top notch! The downtown GJ area is full of public art & sculpture and sweet art shops. I wished I could have stayed longer.

This place is amazing. Very cute and clean with great service. We had breakfast; breakfast tacos and gluten free blueberry muffin pancakes. Their verde sauce was very good with fresh tortillas and huge servings. The gluten free pancakes were the best I have ever had.

Had breakfast here on a weekend. In fairness they were very busy. Were excited as we had heard great things. After we were seated we were forgotten about until we asked another server for help. The waitress knew little about the menu or the bar items (mimosa..bloody marys etc. even though there were advertised specials with these items on a board). I was happy with the menu choices and variety. We were seated outside which I won't recommend. (I usually would..love outdoor seating) My food arrived cold as did my husbands and the 2 tables next to us. The waitress dropped off the food & didn't come back until we were nearly done. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Hmmm.. cold and very very wet. They are one of my 2 favorite breakfast foods so I was bummed. That said, it was busy so we would give it another try on a less busy day. We will sit inside next time so we are not forgotten.

I made an account specifically to review the worst breakfast I've ever had in my life. I ordered the crab cake Benedict with a side of orange juice. The waitress was nice which was one plus BUT when the food came it was easy to tell that almost nothing on the plate had been cooked in house. The hash browns which came in a circle were rubbery and tasted like they had been frozen and then microwaved before they were served to me. The crab cake was delivered in much the same manner except it was hidden by the very mediocre hollandaise sauce. And the icing on the cake was the english muffins were stale and very unpleasant to eat. I have been to other establishments and had eggs Benedict, even IHOP and none were as rancid as these ones. The stinger is that it was 2x more in price for 4x less quality. Needless to say I couldn't finish my food, I couldn't stomach it. I WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. P.S. The Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes are not originally their recipe, it is a recipe based off of Snooze in the Denver area; a proper breakfast place for that manner.

We were on vacation and noticed the café while walking downtown and enjoying the art. As we walked by, I knew that was where I wanted to eat breakfast the next morning. There were folks sitting at tables outside on the sidewalk (Sunday morning) and the food looked as great as our favorite breakfast place here in Iowa. I was slightly disappointed the next day when our hostess barely acknowledged our presence. I guess if she wasn't getting tipped, maybe it didn't matter? Our waitress, however, was much more pleasant and her service was great. I ordered a veggie omelet which was spectacular and the husband ordered the traditional bacon, eggs, toast. Both meals came with, what I considered, hashbrown potato cakes. They were flavorless. They strawberry preserves they provided for the toast, however, was better than any we had ever had. It was possibly homemade as it was provided in little dishes as opposed to the traditional individual little jellys normally provided at restaurants.

Love love this place for breakfast! The biscuits and gravy plate is to die for and did I mention the hash browns!!!!! Amazing. At times service can be slow, but after I eat its somehow erased from my mind. Oh did I mention the mimosas. Yum! Get in there and try it out!

This was a pretty tasty experience. I greatly enjoyed the French toast cinnamon roll breakfast. The French toast had just the right amount of cinnamon and was crispy and delicate, exactly how it should be! The dream potatoes were also delicious, I ate every bite!

Driving through GJ on the way to Denver. We looked up vegetarian restaurants and Dream Cafe was recommended as a vegetarian friendly option. We looked at the menu and as we were looking a server asked "Well, do you want to eat here?" Despite the rudeness of this comment we sat down and ordered two of the only options for a vegetarian and a person who eats fish. We then waited 25 minutes. The food was mediocre at best. It was completely under seasoned. My wife had the tofu scramble, which came with a hash brown cake. It seemed like neither had any seasoning as they were flavorless. I had fish tacos. Big mistake. The paltry amount of fish was overwhelmed by large chunks of jalapeño, such that all it tasted of was jalapeño. The corn tortillas hadn't been warmed and were soggy from the aioli dressing and fell apart as soon as I picked them up. A very disappointing experience.

I think this might be my first 5 star rating! The food was awesome, the service was perfect and the price was right. I hate nothing more than paying a lot of money for subpar food and service. Dream Cafe is nestled in the heart of Grand Junction right next to... well not much. You see GJ doesn't have much to offer for folks like me who eat Paleo and don't settle for lackluster ingredients. Fresh food maid just after I order it is exactly what i want and that is exactly what we got. Note, we did have to wait 20 minutes to get seated but when you're stuck waiting and you see nothing but happy smiling people with carry out bags you know you'll get a good portion and it makes the waiting well worth it.

Dream Cafe should just stick to breakfast food. I ordered a salad (the Chop Chop) after days of eating unhealthily on the road. The Chop Chop sounded like it should have been the perfect detox - veggies, grilled chicken, herb vinaigrette. Pretty standard. Unfortunately, the grilled chicken was dry as cardboard and came out in rock-hard uniform little cubes - it was hard to tell whether it was previously frozen or had been first grilled during the Cretaceous period and then reheated. On the other hand, my bf's California benedict came with fresh avocados, red peppers, perfectly poached eggs, wonderfully toasted English muffins, and a few spears of asparagus. It was flavorful, the side of hash browns were excellent and crispy, and the side of chorizo he ordered added a nice kick to the whole plate. I looked from my plate of sad little greens and colorless chicken to his. Guess whose I ended up stealing?

I have eaten here several times and this is pretty much my favorite breakfast/brunch in GJ. The AM Tacos or the AM Burrito are my favorite. Everything I have had been very good! This is where I take out of town guests as well. Four stars, very good!

The service as ALWAYS slow and sometimes even bad service. But the food is SOO GOOD. It's an internal battle to decide whether or not to go here at times due to the 2 extremes. The biggest contributor to the poor service is the 20 minute ticket times. Have been here 10 times and never had a ticket time faster than 20 minutes. Often times 30 minutes. Every dish I've ever had has been amazing. Love the mimosa and Bloody Mary menu. Staff is friendly when not being over worked, but ticket times are the big downside. Love the way that they serve the hash browns in a disc patty, love the usage of cilantro aioli in a few dishes. Speed up ticket times and make the place bigger! Often times there is a long wait.

If you come through Grand Junction, YOU MUST eat here. I was inspired to write a sitcom that takes place in this gorgeous, hardly believable it's so perfect cafe with interesting, friendly, and open people treating you. The Eggs Benedict are AMAZING, all of them. If you get pancakes, get a single as a side- they're massive. But what's incredible about the pancakes is that they are constructed to be decadent, but aren't too rich to eat as a whole meal. They won't make you sick, like most dessert pancakes! The pineapple caramel is just slightly crispy, perfectly sweetened with the sharp juicy taste of fresh pineapple that hasn't been turned into goop, and sooo decadent caramel sauce that isn't filled with sugar, just pure warm caramel bath luxury. PS, the granola is a great healthy vegetarian breakfast choice, and it is HUGE- don't worry about getting full. Only problem is that some days it gets baked a little too long and becomes hard to chew. Ask for a sample before you order it, and you'll only ever get it when it's perfect. The fruit in it is really great- ask for extra cinnamon on top. Lastly, the $5 morning mimosa special is delightful. They have a pomegranate variety if you like yours tart, but if you like sweet I would skip the added peach- the classic OJ is perfectly balanced.

Overall this is a nice place with a warm retro feel. Friday at 7 am and the place is almost empty. I will definitely come back if I am in Town. The coffee came out quickly and my cup has been refilled quicken than I can drink it. The California Benedict it's pretty good with fresh avocado. The sauce is fair, but not great. Eggs at cooked perfectly. The bacon tasted like the meat candy that it is. Yummy They even have soy milk for those poor soles that don't drink dairy.

Driving thru to Utah we needed a breakfast place that had gluten free options for 2 of us. Our family of 5 was completely satisfied and we recommend the cinnamon rolls and taco breakfast plate w tomatillo sauce. Yum!

Where to start...the pancakes are awesome!!!! Not to mention, they will feed a small army. Eggs Benedict was also equally as good. They were really busy the first day, and service was a bit lacking, but the food made up for it. Day two was completely opposite for service. We had Jordan and he was the man! Our drinks were always full and he had some great suggestions. He really made our meal complete! I highly recommend the Dream Cafe!

My parents were visiting and they love a good brunch, as do I. I initially took them to the Egg & I where they found the food almost inedible. It was just way too salty. After reviewing Yelp and then getting a recommendation to go to Dream Cafe from my mother-in-law, we gave it a try. First of all, the decor is adorable and the restaurant is so clean. Having lived in Chicago for ten years, it reminded me of brunch places in Chicago that I miss so much. The service was also great, all the girls were friendly and attentive. Most importantly, the food was very very good. My dad got the corn beef hash which he finished the entire dish. It is a little different from your typical corned beef hash in that it is chopped up corned beef with onions and red bell peppers. However, we all thought it worked so well. It comes with a side of their awesome hashbrowns. The hashbrowns are crunchy on the outside and soft and potato-y on the inside. We also got a pancake as the other side which was one of the absolute best pancakes I've had. The pancake too is crispy on the outside and so soft and fluffy on the inside. My mom and I shared an omelette and the cinnamon roll. The omelette was also very good. Our toast came out a little burnt and they had no problem switching it out for us. I was looking forward to the cinnamon roll the most, and maybe that is why it was the least exciting. It is hilarious how huge it is, but I think due to the size it is a little doughy and I would prefer they use a regular icing/frosting over the maple glaze-type topping. However, I'm sure there are people who would probably have liked it. I am so happy to have found this cute little brunch place and you know I will definitely be back!

The food is better than it was the last time I was here, but the service still needs help. :( We waited for 20 mins. for a table even though there were clearly empty tables available. Then the waitress took forever to come take our drink orders, and after that she got my order wrong :( This place is really hit or miss, no matter how busy/not busy they are. I really want to love this place!

I like it. It's better than a dinner and anytime i can get a bloody mary or a mimosa thats a bonus. Given GJ coices i'm calling it 4 star. Quick service, good food and great environment. I like the menu choices with gluten free options!

A Grand Junction vacation must! It's right downtown and serves mimosas and bloody mary's alongside your choice of lunch or breakfast (breakfast served all day!). My favorites are the Biscuits and Gravy and the Crab Cake Benedicts. Both are served with a side of Dream Potatoes which are hashbrowns. Sometimes the hashbrowns are way undercooked and it's like eating soggy (albeit tasty!) potato shavings. We asked for "crispier" Dream Potatoes one time and got potato shavings that were similar in texture to potato chips. No happy medium! So we prefer it just the way they bring it out, and we eat it no matter what, 'cause like I said...it's still tasty! The mimosas and bloody mary's are...sigh...a letdown. I had to add way too much salt, pepper, and Tabasco to my bloody mary to get it to have any flavor other than tomato juice. So that was my first and last bloody mary at Dream. The mimosas are champagne (no complaints there!) with orange juice concentrate...so they're not super tasty. Just kind of a cloying orange flavor. And if you get a flavored one, they're just adding peach or raspberry liquer, making the flavor even more...cloying...? The pomegranate mimosa is the best option, with the plain mimosa a second best, and the Red Bull one is interesting if you wanna try that...4 bucks is a reasonable price, so I get one (or two!) with every breakfast (weekends of course) despite my complaints. Back to my favorite dishes: 1) Biscuits and Gravy - one small-to-medium biscuit split open, topped with your choice of chicken or pork sausage (both are interesting, not exactly AWESOME, but interesting, so I switch back and forth), eggs any way you want, gravy (with bits of more unknown meat...pork sausage??), and cheddar. It's kind of a lot all at once. So I get the eggs on the side and usually push a good amount of the cheddar off too. 3) Crab Cake Benedicts - FREAKING SPECTACULAR. But don't try this hungover. Ugh, that seafood ruined my morning one time. Anyway, on any OTHER day, this is seriously incredible. Perfect English muffin split in half, topped with perfect crab cakes (never overcooked, perfectly seasoned), perfect poached eggs, and topped with a PERFECT lemon hollandaise. Holy cow. AMAZING! My one complaint...they won't let you do two different egg benedicts (like the California or the regular Dream with one Crab Cake Bene). I was able to do this once in Denver at Snooze (other reviewers have compared them), and it seems like an easy way to accommodate the customer, yet Dream won't do it. Bah. Humbug. Other than the complaints mentioned (oh and they don't have Sweet-n-Low...I know...cancer blah blah blah), I love love LOVE spending a lazy Sunday brunch here. The deco is perfect. The lighting is perfect. The food is...good enough. The mimosas are cheap. Oh, and the best seat in the house is the round side of the bar top. Especially if it's just you and your hunny. We never have to wait if that's open 'cause it's first come, first served. The worst seat in the house is the furthest southwest booth (right north of the round table up front and to the west). The sun shines perfectly through that front window blinding you and ruining your meal, so make a fuss before they seat you there. Oh and most of the waitresses are great! Most...sigh...so very close to 5 stars.

I'm a fan! Their flavor pairings are really great and the food is always noticeably fresh! Love their Malibu chicken sandwich (with the best skinny fries) at lunch and the biscuits and gravy with chicken sausage at breakfast. They also offer a fresh fruit plate, which should be more common at restaurants, but sadly isn't. It's big enough for 2-3 to share. The service can be hit or miss, but even if it's a miss, it's never downright terrible.

This is definitely the place to come when you want brunch in downtown Grand Junction. A great selection of savory egg breakfasts as well as some interesting sweet pancake creations. We went with one of each, the breakfast burrito (substituting turkey bacon for chorizo) as well as the Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes. Everything was perfectly cooked and there's an interesting selection of Bloody Mary options to pair with!

5-Stars: The Mix & Match pancake sampler, which consisted of one each of the banana split pancakes, pineapple upside down pancakes, and blueberry muffin pancakes was delicious. Better than Denver breakfast eatery Snooze's ridiculous-line-out-the-door-at-all-hours pancakes. The pineapple & blueberry were tied as the best. Outdoor seating on Main St, on a beautiful sunny morning. 4-Stars: The California Dreamin' Bene was very good. A large amount of roasted red peppers, a couple asparagus spears, a good amount of avocado, two poached eggs over an excellent muffin and a decent Hollandaise sauce made for a good meal. I prefer homefries over the hashbrowns that came with the dish (billed as "Dream Potatoes"), but it was a good meal.

Things I love: -$4 Peach Liqueur Mimosas -Non-greasy, super crunchy, frie-like hash browns Things I like: -Bacon -Humungo sliced rye bread -Their glassware Things I don't like: -Wanting to take a nap while eating (these light, airy colors are hypnotizing my eating and wakeful abilities) -Feeling like I'm in a Life Time special of 'Honey, I think we're becoming the Jetsons!!!' (I'm just waiting for little robot waiters without feet to zoom around the corner and give me a sustenance pill) -Expensive quiche (it's just taking advantage of the lack of omelettes or frittatas) As far as breakfast places go, they are trying a little too hard to do the kitschy, cafe-y, 'ain't that cute' thing, but regardless, I will come back for what I do like (mmm-mimosas). And, this is really the only place to get tofu-anything around here, so that's a plus. Dream Cafe is fine for what it is, nothing really to write home about, but there for when you need it.

Excellent place for breakfast. I had the homemade hash and it was delightful. The accompaniaments were great. Everything anybody had was really good. Service was good, too. I ordered soup to go for lunch and it was ok but not super. I recommend it for breakfast and brunch but not for lunch, like Sherry pointed out.

So I would like to know how long they have been open. Because I work at a breakfast place in Boulder and they seem to be trying to re-create it's vibe. Not a bad thin, just interesting. To start I got the California Dreamin Bene and my boyfriend got the Cornbeef Hash. Then bene was decent, I really liked the english muffin in came on, though the roasted red peppers seemed to be canned rather then fresh. Their hash browns are decent, a bit over peppered in my opinion. And then there was their holly.......I swear it tasted like it came from a powder.....bland and just not fresh tasting. Holly is a basic, I believe any breakfast place should be able to pull off a good holly. My boyfriends meal was good, nothing to write home about. The cornbeef wasn't canned, but it wasn't the best you can do. He said it was more like chopped up lunch meat mixed with onion, red pepper and a little hash. Though his eggs did get cooked to a perfect over medium. Always a plus. We did not try any mimosas, though they seem overly proud of heir champagne, a whole wall full of it and lots of bottles set up on the bar. We had their coffee, over all fine, but once again just ok. Their set up was over all nice, though the bar confused me, there was also a table set up basically behind the bar, seemed like it would be odd to sit at. Over all, we would likely go back, but I will be on the hunt for something a bit more exiting and fresh. Also, a great holly, it really is my favorite sauce for breakfast.

I just love this little place. One of the best breakfast places in GJ for sure. Their burrito with green chili is awesome. Service is great and efficient (you can get in and out of there in less than 1 hour for sure, quicker if needed). It's also decorated cute, if that matters to anyone. And they have lovely Mimosas. :) -Rachel

This place is good, my Wife's Chicken sandwich was really good, my daughters pancakes were really good, but my Prime Rib sandwich wasn't that great. I was wishing I ordered something else. The staff was nice except for the hostess, don't know what her problem was, maybe she should've woke up on the other side of her bed that morning. great place, check it out if your in the area.

My husband and I were driving through on our way from LA to MSP. We are so glad we stopped here to have breakfast. The food was fantastic, the service was great. Okay, we went there and the line was out the door and gathered all around the mall so it was a debate if it would be worth the wait. It was! I got the biscuits and gravy meal. I love brunch. It happens to be my favorite meal of the week, not the day the entire week. I was visiting good ole Grand Junction once again and wanted to see if I could get a good brunch experience that would compare to my typical San Francisco brunch. Dream Cafe made my dreams come true! The interior decor was delightful! I actually felt like I was in a dreamy state. It was everything I expected. The wait staff was fantastic. Great personalities. They were quick, friendly and got it all right. Yum yum yum. Now the important stuff... THE FOOD-delicious! The portions are a bit too big for my taste but just a bit. Why is that a problem? Well, when food tastes that fantastic it's hard not to eat every last bite. I only have one fat pair of jeans Dream Cafe-go easy on a girl! :) I posted pics of those tasty dishes too. I can't wait to go back and try more.

Thank you Yelpers! I was visiting from out of town and needed a breakfast spot and Yelp led me to a great meal! The place is very trendy (especially for Junction...) and it had great service, food and options. They were out of biscuits and gravy at 11:30 a.m. on a Saturday.. but other than that, it was great. We got the eggs benedict and the egg dream muffin. I don't know other options in Junction, but this is a trendy, delicious option! I definitely recommend it!

LOVED this place for breakfast!!! The service was fast & friendly and the portions are huge. You have to try their Cinnamon Roll French Toast Breakfast, but you better be VERY hungry.

Called and was told they were open. I told them I was about two hours out. They said yes we will still be open. Drove 30 minutes out of my way to get there. They were closed. I'll never waste my time on this place again.

Delicious.

Really nice atmosphere. Not the typical greasy spoon (which I like too) and that includes the food. Food was clean and tasty. I would have given it six stars if I was still drinking! Good hangover food and interesting mimosas and Bloodies. Good service too.

I am a very regular, happy customer of this establishment. For years breakfast and champagne have been two of my favorite things and Dream Cafe nails it. The biscuits and gravy in particular is outstanding and always consistently perfect. This is always the first restaurant I think about for breakfast in Grand Junction.

This was a pretty tasty experience. I greatly enjoyed the French toast cinnamon roll breakfast. The French toast had just the right amount of cinnamon and was crispy and delicate, exactly how it should be! The dream potatoes were also delicious, I ate every bite!

Love love this place for breakfast! The biscuits and gravy plate is to die for and did I mention the hash browns!!!!! Amazing. At times service can be slow, but after I eat its somehow erased from my mind. Oh did I mention the mimosas. Yum! Get in there and try it out!

  • Tyler C.

Good food, fast service. Food didn't wow me, but it wasn't bad either. Will definitely come back. Heard they have a great bloody mary. also hear their breakfast is fantastic. Need to come back and try that. When I do, I'll report back.

I like it. It's better than a dinner and anytime i can get a bloody mary or a mimosa thats a bonus. Given GJ coices i'm calling it 4 star. Quick service, good food and great environment. I like the menu choices with gluten free options!

  • Jessica A.

:) -Rachel

Cinnamon roll was huge & outta sight - more than the whole table could handle. Huevos rancheros great, too. Coffee was light & very drinkable.

I'm sure this is the best breakfast I've ever had. Too bad I don't live here otherwise, I'd be there having the same thing every weekend.

Okay, we went there and the line was out the door and gathered all around the mall so it was a debate if it would be worth the wait. It was! I got the biscuits and gravy meal. This easily was one of the best breakfast I have had in awhile. Very delicious flavor and awesome size for a meal. Eat here!

Completely unexpected but happily surprised! The Dream Cafe is a delicious, gourmet breakfast spot that you must visit if ever in Grand Junction. California Dreamin' Benny is highly recommended!

Slap my thigh. One of the best breakfast's I ever had in the Colonies. Not what I expected. AND bloody mary for breakfast. NICE feels like England. All I need now is a warm BEER

I probably should've tried their breakfast because I would've like it more. I had a chicken ciabatta sandwich and it was ok. The bread was excellent, but the chicken was a little tough. My boyfriend had the cinammon roll french toast which was really yummy.

LOVED this place for breakfast!!! The service was fast & friendly and the portions are huge. You have to try their Cinnamon Roll French Toast Breakfast, but you better be VERY hungry. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a great feel to it. Got very busy on a Sunday morning, however. Can't wait to try the lunch menu items.

I always order the Eggs Benedict. I know I should try something else, but they are just that good. Service is always great and my coffee cup is always full. They also have a tasty bloody mary.

  • Steve D.

This is a great place for breakfast or lunch! Their eggs benedict are really good and fresh. My hubby likes their Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes, but I think they're too sweet for the morning. They also make an amazing Prime Rib French Dip for lunch.

The kids had grilled cheese with fresh fruit. the fruit was great and they inhaled it.

they should have spent less on their decor and more on their food. wasn't expecting the type of cafe that serves log cabin syrup and splenda. definitely not the organic, healthy food i was expecting, more like an slightly more expensive denny's with funky decor.
